Boeing 737 Max

Our airplane simulator is the Boeing 737 MAX 8. It is a narrow-body aircraft produced by Boeing at its Renton Factory in Washington. Envisioned in 1964, the initial 737-100 made its first flight in April 1967 and entered service in February 1968 with Lufthansa. Since then it has evolved through four generations, offering several variants from 85 up to 215 passengers.
It was the highest-selling commercial aircraft until being surpassed by the competing Airbus A320 family in October 2019.

The 737 MAX is based on earlier 737 designs, with more efficient engines, aerodynamic changes including distinctive split-tip winglets, and airframe modifications. It is the fourth generation of Boeing 737, following the 737 NG series. For the time being, there is 5 variants of the Boeing 737 MAX: MAX 7, MAX 8, MAX 200 (MAX 8 but with high seat density), MAX 9 and MAX 10. The bigger the number, the bigger the plane. There are other variants oriented towards business: the BBJ (Boeing Business Jet) MAX 8 and MAX 9

The price of this airplane is around 128 million $ but airline companies have up to a 55% discount when placing big orders.

The 737 MAX suffered a recurring failure in the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS), causing two fatal crashes, Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, in which 346 people died. It was subsequently grounded worldwide from March 2019 to November 2020. The FAA cleared the return to service on November 18, 2020, subject to mandated design and training changes. Canadian and European authorities only followed in late January 2021
